Talented Goalkeeper Sten Kremers (Currently) Without a Club
14 June 2026“I hope things work out, but right now I don’t have anything at all.”
A few years ago, Sten Kremers (22) was still sitting on the bench as a backup goalkeeper for Ajax during the Johan Cruyff Shield match. Today, he is searching for a new club after his contract with De Graafschap was not renewed at the end of last season. Kremers began his football career at Longa ’30 in Lichtenvoorde and quickly moved to the youth academy of De Graafschap, where he spent four seasons. At the time, while he was in his fourth year of secondary school at Marianum in Lichtenvoorde, he joined Ajax Amsterdam. He was under contract there for four seasons as well, but unfortunately, he saw little playing time.
Until recently, Sten was the second-choice goalkeeper at his former club, De Graafschap, but he has since left. This means he is currently without a club.
“I hope things work out, but right now I don’t have anything at all.” The transfer window opens on June 22. “I’m looking for a club”, Sten tells one of his former coaches, who stops by during the interview. “Right now, everything is still very uncertain, but I hope it works out.”
Sten himself has never participated in the Marveld Tournament. “That’s a shame. When I was in the U15s, we were doing really well – we even became Dutch champions. Unfortunately, we couldn’t participate in the tournament back then. I would have loved to!” Whenever he can, Kremers watches the tournament every year – which comes as no surprise, since his father-in-law is Marco Frank, the tournament chairman.
Sten is a talented goalkeeper with an incredible work ethic. Additionally, he is strong with the ball at his feet, allowing him to play out well – a key quality in modern football. His reflexes and explosiveness make him a complete goalkeeper. “I’m willing to do everything to make it happen.” Kremers is often praised for his hard work. Who wouldn’t want a goalkeeper like that?
