Tournament program 2026
Below the global tournament program (with reservation) of the 36th edition of the International Marveld Tournament.
Friday 5 and Saturday 6 June

Monday 8 June
Continued decoration of the sports park by volunteers and the board.
PSV will arrive around 16:00 hr for a training week in preparation for the International Marveld Tournament. In doing so, they are redeeming the prize they won in 2025.
PALMEIRAS will also arrive at the end of the morning by bus from Arnhem, where they played in a tournament at Vitesse last weekend.
Tuesday 9 June
Continued decoration of the sports park by volunteers and the board.
Today, the third team of this year will already arrive. FLAMENGO will arrive at Schiphol after a long flight and is expected to arrive in Groenlo at the end of the afternoon. Like PALMEIRAS and PSV, they want to prepare thoroughly for the tournament.
19:00 hr: Team Grol plays a friendly match against PSV.
Wednesday 10 June
Continued decoration of the sports park by volunteers and the board and START decoration of the sports hall.
Thursday 11 June
Continuation of the decoration of the sports park and the fitting out of the sports hall by volunteers and the board.
At 16:00 hr we hope to have completed the preparatory work.
On Thursday, the following teams will arrive from abroad in the late afternoon or early evening:
VFL WOLFSBURG will arrive by their own bus from Northern Germany, and PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN will arrive by their own bus from Paris. RIGHT TO DREAM will travel by bus with a selection of players from their four academies worldwide from Denmark, where they have already completed a training week. SPORTING CLUBE DE PORTUGAL will arrive at Schiphol this afternoon and will be picked up there by the organization’s bus.
From 19:15 hr onwards, the sponsor night is open to the sponsors.
In the cosy decorated sports hall from 20:00 hr onwards, a SPONSOR’S EVENING will take place for the 17th consecutive time. This evening is organized by the board of the Stichting Internationaal Marveldtoernooi in cooperation with the board of the Grol Commercial Team and Business Club Grol.
This year once again, the organization has prepared a highly interesting and varied program. The evening will again be hosted by sports journalist Stef de Bont, who will introduce and interview surprising guests.
All sponsors of Grol and the Marveld Tournament are invited to this evening. At 22:30 hr the official part will be concluded, after which everyone is invited to our sports bar for a cosy after party.
Friday 12 June
The teams already present can have breakfast in the sports hall between 08:30 and 10:00 hr. This morning the final touches will be made to the decoration of the sports park. All preparatory work should be completed by 11:00 hr.
10:30 – 12:00 hr
Reception of the other participating teams: AJAX, FEYENOORD, PSV, FC TWENTE/HERACLES, BAYER 04 LEVERKUSEN and GROL. The other teams arrived earlier in the week.
12:30 – 14:00 hr
Official welcome and opening tournament
Welcome to the participating teams by Marco Frank (chairman of the board International Marveld Tournament) and Gea Hofsteden, the new Mayor of the municipality of Oost Gelre. Presentation of the participants of the Marveld Tournament 2026.
Hot meal for all teams + team leaders, referees already present and other volunteers.
11:00 – 14:30 hr
Photo session: from 11:00 hr. a team photo is taken of all participating teams. After the photo shoot and the official welcome, all teams have free time to go to the bungalows at Marveld Recreatie, rest and continue preparing for the tournament weekend.
14:00 hr
Meeting team delegates
This meeting takes place in the sports hall and is led by the head of refereeing and arbitration Karel van den Heuvel. Representing the International Marveld Tournament board will be Marco Frank (chairman) and Tonnie Zieverink (secretary).
14:30 hr
Meeting referees
This meeting will take place in the sports hall and will be chaired by the head of refereeing and arbitration Karel van den Heuvel. Tonnie Zieverink (secretary) will represent the board.
15:00 hr
Meeting assistant referees and 4th officials
This meeting takes place in the sports hall and is chaired by Assistant Referee and 4th official coordinators Wilco Lobbert. Tonnie Zieverink (secretary) will represent the board.
16:00 – 18:30 hr
During this period, all participating teams, team staff, referees already present and other volunteers will have the opportunity to enjoy a bread meal. The teams are thus enabled to eat before their first match.
17:30 hr
Opening games
On three pitches simultaneously, the first group matches in Group PEPSI ZERO will begin. The opening match on Alferink pitch is Palmeiras (from Brazil and losing finalist in 2025) against PSV (winner in 2025), accompanied by the entrance of the U8 players of Grol.
All teams will play 2 group matches of 2 x 20 minutes tonight.
20:30 – 21:45 hr
Hot meal for all participating teams and referees.
21:30 hr.
End of the first tournament day.
22:00 – 23:00 hr
Informal meeting for all trainers + leaders
of the participating teams, including team leaders and referees. This meeting takes place in the conservatory.
Saturday 13 June
From 08:00 to 10:00 hr breakfast in the sports hall for all participating teams and volunteers of the Marveld Tournament.
At 10:30 hr the 2nd tournament day starts.
Today each team will play 3 group matches of 2 x 20 minutes.
Between 11:30 and 14:00 hr lunch in the sports hall for all participating teams and volunteers of the Marveld Tournament.
At approx. 12:15 hr there is a break in the competition programme. Albert Heijn Cart shooting and Obbink Break Game at Alferinkveld!
At 13:30 hr our tournament programme will continue with the group matches.
After the second day of the tournament a communal dinner for all participating teams takes place at 18:30 hr in the sports hall. The rest of the evening can be spent by the teams as they like.
At 20:00 hr there will be a dinner for officials and other guests of the International Marveld Tournament, also in the sports hall.
Sunday 14 June
From 08:00 to 10:00 hr breakfast in the sports hall for all participating teams and volunteers of the Marveld Tournament.
At 09:30 hr start of the third tournament day with cross finals: nrs. 5 + 6, nrs. 3 + 4 and nrs. 1 + 2, then place matches for the places 5 to 12 and then the games for 3rd and 4th place and the final.
Between 11:30 and 14:00 hr lunch in the sports hall for all participating teams and volunteers of the Marveld Tournament.
The final of the 36th International Marveld Tournament is planned at 15:45 hr.
As soon as possible after the final the prize-giving ceremony takes place, always a real happening for the real football fan. We therefore have the friendly request to everyone to stay until the prize-giving ceremony.
Approximately 17:30 hr is the end of the 36th International Marveld Tournament. From 17:30 until 21:30 hr there will be a pleasant get-together with all the volunteers who have helped make the tournament a success. We invite everyone who has contributed to this event. With all of us the tournament will be closed in a dignified way.
At 18:00 hr AJAX, FEYENOORD, PSV, FC TWENTE/HERACLES, BAYER 04 LEVERKUSEN, VFL WOLFSBURG and PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN will leave.
Approx. 18:15 hr warm meal at Marveld Recreatie for all still present teams.
Monday 15 June
Today PALMEIRAS and FLAMENGO will fly back to Brazil. SPORTING CLUBE DE PORTUGAL will fly back to Lisbon today. The Danish part of the RIGHT TO DREAM squad will return to Denmark. The remaining players and staff of the Right to Dream Academy will stay in Groenlo until Friday for a training week.

The 36th International Marveld Tournament is really over when everything is cleaned up. Hopefully we can conclude that we have had a fantastic and successful event again. But even more important is that everybody enjoyed it and looks back with a lot of pleasure, because that is what we as board of the International Marveld Tournament foundation do it all for in the end. On to the 37th edition of International Marveld Tournament in 2027 (June 4, 5 and 6)!
