VfL Wolfsburg and Right to Dream at Marveld Tournament 2026
22 April 2026
Withdrawals of Melbourne City FC and Al-Ahly
Last weekend, the Board of the International Marveld Tournament had to deal with two withdrawals: Melbourne City FC from Australia and Al-Ahly from Egypt.
Both teams were, of course, very disappointed, but due to the ongoing unrest and war in the Middle East, it is not considered safe for them to travel to Groenlo.
However, two very strong and high-quality replacements have been secured: VfL Wolfsburg and Right to Dream. VfL Wolfsburg competes in the northern region of Germany and is currently leading the table unbeaten. After a surprising second-place finish in 2022, we are eager to see whether they can reach the final again this year.
Right to Dream Ghana is a familiar name at the Marveld Tournament and has impressed in the past with strong performances, including two tournament victories and a distinctive African football atmosphere.
This year, however, the participation will be different. Under the name Right to Dream, a newly formed international team will take part in our tournament for the first time, consisting of players from the academies in Ghana, Denmark, Egypt, and San Diego. A unique and special debut for the Marveld Tournament.
These are two very strong teams and a fantastic addition to the field of participants. VfL Wolfsburg replaces Melbourne City, and Right to Dream takes the place of Al-Ahly.
The line-up for the weekend of June 12–14 is therefore as follows: Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV, FC Twente/Heracles, and Grol from the Netherlands; VfL Wolfsburg and Bayer 04 Leverkusen from Germany; Paris Saint-Germain from France; Right to Dream from Ghana; Sporting Clube de Portugal from Portugal; and Flamengo and Palmeiras from Brazil.
Below are the new group allocations.
