The Dos Santos Sisters and Botafogo

Sarah (17) and Inees (15) Dos Santos are the team guides for the Brazilian club Botafogo. Both live in Groenlo and speak fluent Portuguese. Their father was formerly a volleyball coach at VV Grol.

Sarah usually does the talking:
“We heard that two Brazilian teams were coming, and then we were asked to help out — we absolutely love it. We guide the team, translate, and help them with any practical issues. We also picked them up from Bad Kissingen in Germany, where they had just won a tournament. And of course, we cheer them on! Botafogo is a great club, like one big family, and we were welcomed immediately. We even introduced them to our mother, and now she has to come along all the time too!

We’re both really into football. We love each other as sisters, but when it comes to football, it’s a different story — it’s Porto versus Benfica, and then it always turns into a rivalry!”

For Botafogo, it’s very important to present and earn respect here — that they play together as a team and try to perform well as a group. In short, team building is extremely important.

Finally, we want to say how much fun it is to participate as volunteers. You get so much in return — beautiful moments, meeting new people. We’re definitely looking forward to coming back!”
