Slavia Prague: coach Robert Barborik

“For me the most important thing is to play good combination football and to score goals”.

Robert Barborik is the coach of Slavia Prague’s under-15 team. “I don’t know how we were invited, maybe we were recommended,” he says, laughing. “The confrontation with good teams and then I want to see how we do. We are champions of the Czech Republic and we have another match against the champion of the other district, Banik Ostrava. The level here is very high and the players move like adult football professionals! For me, the most important thing is to play good combination football and to score goals. That is the essence of football. Ball handling and ball control are also important.” When asked about the team that impresses him the most, he is adamant: “That’s Barcelona: they are strong on the ball and strong in the combination. Apart from that, there are not that many differences. Oh well and besides, sometimes you have the necessary luck and sometimes a little bit of bad luck.”

He is very enthusiastic about the fantastic organisation and thinks the whole set-up is very professional. They come abroad more often, which is good for their development as players as teams and as people.

“The last time was in February 2020 when we were guests at an international indoor football tournament on artificial grass in Frankfurt. In conclusion, I would like to wish everyone good health and love for football!”
