31-05-2015

After finishing first in their pools the two debutants of the tournament, Ghanaian Right to Dream and English Arsenal met in the finale of the 26th Marveld tournament for C-juniors. In the end game the Ghanaian team proved too strong and with an end result of no less than 0-4 the championship no longer proved to be just a dream.

Despite several showers many visitors found their way to the fields of s.v. Grol. Along the fields the atmosphere was pleasant and on the (artificial) grass fields the sportive games were filled with attractive and fresh football. Especially the game between Right to Dream and Brasilian Atlético Paranaense on the Friday evening was top quality. The Brasilian club eventually ended in third place on the Sunday afternoon. Besides that Atlético Paranaense also won the Fair Play Cup. This cup is rewarded yearly to the club that has the best attitude on and off the field, during meals and in the bungalows.

Every year the organization rewards certain players with specific talents.

Juan Familio Castillo, Ajax’s number 8, was announced best player of the 26th Marveld tournament. He stayed strong under pressure, has a technique for fast dynamics, good acceleration and capability to score. On top of that he makes the right choices and is a real team player.

Goalkeeper of the Marveld tournament 2015 is: Stephen Sarkodie of Right to Dream. The jury report says he is athletic and strong in the air. He can coach well and is a penalty killer. He stopped two in the cross finale. He also keeps the game up to speed and showed some fine saves.

Top scorer was Temenuzhkov Mihaylov from FC Barcelona with four goals.

Asad Omar was awarded most valuable player of s.v. Grol. He was a booster to the team, used his technical skills on the ball and made the necessary meters for the team. He is a real winner!

Jorden Veld was called forward to receive the encouragement price. Jorden is a player who will go far and who made the selection team for the first time this year. After a long lasting injury he managed to play on a high level in this tournament and he has been very important for the team.

In the lower regions Groenlo’s own s.v. Grol turned out to be the big surprise by beating FC Twente after penalty’s. Taking part in the tournament already is a fantastic experience for this home team, but with this result players and staff were extremely happy. And afterwards in the locker room a deserved applause was heard as if they had won the tournament.
