Fantastic line-up for 34th edition International Marveld Tournament 2024
26 April 2024In recent weeks, the board of the Stichting Internationaal Marveldtoernooi has announced, through six short videos, the participants for the 34th edition, to be held this year on the weekend of 7, 8 and 9 June.
A top-level field of participants, with many different cultures and playing styles. 12 Teams from 7 different countries and 3 different continents.
This year there are 5 Dutch teams and 7 foreign teams. The format of the tournament is unchanged: two group matches on Friday evening, three on Saturday and on Sunday the qualifying and final matches.
New participants in Groenlo are:
- FC Nordsjælland from Denmark
- Chinese Football Boys from China
In addition, the following teams are back:
- Borussia Dortmund from Germany (last participation 2017)
- Paris Saint-Germain from France (last participation 2019)
- KRC Genk from Belgium (last participation 2016)
The Dutch participation consists of:
- Grol 33rd time, highest ranking 8th place in 1992
- Ajax 26th time, winner in 1998, 2003, 2004 and 2018
- PSV 25th time, winner in 2001, 2007 and 2014
- Feyenoord 29th time, winner in 1993, 1995 and 1997
- FC Twente/Heracles 23rd time, highest ranking 4th place in 2008
The foreign participation consists of:
- FC Barcelona from Spain 10th time, winner in 2005, 2019 and 2022
- Borussia Dortmund from Germany , highest rankink 6th place in 1998
- Palmeiras from Brasil 2nd time, highest rankin winner in 2023
- Paris Saint-Germain from France 5th time, highest ranking 2nd in 2013
- KRC Genk from Belgium 2nd time, highest ranking 8th place in 2016
- FC Nordsjælland from Denmark 1st time
- Chinese Football Boys from China 1st time
The draw for the groups draw was conducted by Teus Ueffing, captain of Grol JO15-1 and Sophie te Brake, playing in the first team of FC Twente Women and a participant at the Marveldtoernooi in 2019. Below you will find the video of the presentation and draw.
