From matchwinner to assistant coach

This time he is mainly present as an observing assistant coach with his club PSV in Groenlo, as he was also last week at the Kevin de Bruijne tournament in Genk. He thinks and observes, and his employment contract starts on July 1st. Due to numerous severe injuries, his professional career has never really taken off. But he says, “I have enough ambition to make something out of this!”

The special thing is that he also participated in the Marveld Tournament in 2014. Something he still remembers well. “We started quite inconsistently and had a rough start, but gradually things improved, and we reached the final of the tournament against Real Madrid. We won 1-0 and I scored the winning goal. And so a dream came true. We really had a top team back then, including Obispo and Gakpo!”

He finds everything well organized at the tournament. “Any problems are solved fairly quickly, so the players feel safe and can fully focus on football and the tournament. That is very important!”
