Fantastic line-up for 35th edition International Marveld Tournament 2025
5 January 2025Last Sunday, January 5th, the board of the Stichting Internationaal Marveldtoernooi has announced the participants for the 35th edition, to be held this year on the weekend of 13, 14 and 15 June.
A top-level field of participants, with many different cultures and playing styles. 12 Teams from 6 different countries and 3 different continents.
This year there are 5 Dutch teams and 7 foreign teams. The format of the tournament is unchanged: two group matches on Friday evening, three on Saturday and on Sunday the qualifying and final matches.
New participants in Groenlo are:
- Lille OSC from France
- Botafogo from Brazil
In addition, the following teams are back:
- Borussia Mönchengladbach from Germany (last participation in 2022)
- Right to Dream Ghana from Ghana (last participation in 2017)
- Real Madrid from Spain (last participation in 2017)
The Dutch participation consists of:
- Grol 34th time, highest ranking 8th place in 1992
- Ajax 27th time, winner in 1998, 2003, 2004 and 2018
- PSV 26th time, winner in 2001, 2007 and 2014
- Feyenoord 30th time, winner in 1993, 1995 and 1997
- FC Twente/Heracles 25th time, highest ranking 4th place in 2008
De buitenlandse deelname bestaat uit:
- FC Barcelona from Spain 11the time, winner in 2005, 2019, 2022 and 2024
- Borussia Mönchengladbach from Germany 2nd time, highest ranking 5th place in 2022
- Palmeiras from Brazil 3th time, highest ranking winner in 2023
- Lille OSC from France 1st time
- Right to Dream Ghana from Ghana 4th time, highest ranking winner in 2015 and 2017
- Real Madrid from Spain 12th time, highest ranking winner in 2011
- Botafogo from Brazil 1st time
