Amateur Coaches Visit the Marveld Tournament

8 June 2024

Under the leadership of Mark Reinders and Bjorn Koldeweij from Groenlo, head coaches of VV Reünie from Borculo and SC Meddo, thirteen amateur coaches from the region visited the Marveld Tournament on Friday. This was all part of a quarterly meeting to earn two points towards the maintenance of their coaching license under the auspices of the KNVB. Each amateur coach needs to earn 15 points over three years. According to Mark and Bjorn, the Marveld Tournament is a wonderful opportunity for coaches to gain new knowledge, insights, and experiences, and thus earn points.

Team Building Process

The theme of this special meeting focused on the team building process combined with a touch of mentality. The organizers had invited two guest speakers to delve deeper into the theme; Martin de Laat (head coach PSV U15) and Ton Kosterman (known from the TV series “De Voetbaltrainer”). Martin de Laat provided several practical examples of how they handle this at PSV and how it is reflected in the matches. Subsequently, the group watched and analyzed the PSV – Palmeiras match together, to recognize and discuss the points made by De Laat during the game. Naturally, this provided ample material for discussion and thorough post-match analysis during the other games and in the sports café. Coaches also know the phenomenon of the third half under the motto “combining the useful with the pleasant.” After all, the bow cannot always be kept taut.

In short, the Marveld Tournament is not only a wonderful event to enjoy youth football at the highest level, but it is also a perfect opportunity to elevate amateur coaches to a higher level and share experiences. All in the interest of the beloved game of football!
