4000 Fewer Bottles of Waste Thanks to Reusable Water Bottles

Last year, they made their debut at the Marveld tournament: the specially purchased water bottles for all players, sponsored by Damen Gifts BV from Lichtenvoorde. Each team receives a crate of their own bottles upon arrival at Sportpark Den Elshof, which they can refill at the tap points in the park with crystal-clear tap water from the region Achterhoek. This edition features a quick-tap system for the first time, allowing the entire crate to be filled with just one turn of the hand.

With these reusable water bottles, the tournament organization aims to contribute positively to sustainability. Frank Walterbos from the Marveld tournament explains that besides their sustainability goals, the water bottles are also intended to promote the high-quality Dutch drinking water. “Dutch football teams are used to drinking water from the tap, but this is not always possible abroad. With our water bottles, we also promote Dutch drinking water among the foreign teams.”

Each bottle has the club name and a number, so each player has their own bottle. After the tournament, players can take the bottles home as a tangible memory of their participation in the Marveld tournament.
